2015 will be an exciting year in the interiors world. Indeed more and more Kenyans are getting enlightened; they want their homes – interior and exterior, to be in with the latest trends. I foresee fresh and clean color pallets - clean but not glaring. The color hues of greens, browns, turquoises and yellows for the young and young-at-heart homeowners who want to enter their homes and keep the energy going. Plus beiges for the more somber-natured and classical personalities whose homes are their havens for relaxation. The open plan home is gaining popularity and I see more homes coming up with such
designs and breakfast areas incorporated in the kitchens – that also taking away from the formal dining. In the next year, the leather and fabric sofa takes a big chunk of the furniture in our homes. For the exterior, imported, man made wicker is getting popular and I see it being indulged in even more as people prepare their outdoor entertainment areas. Some of our Jua Kali furniture will also find space in homes. Soft furnishings – It looks like the trending theme will be ‘the brighter the better.’ But to blend in with the fresh and clean color pallet mentioned earlier. Expensive artworks are also taking up space on our walls, such as self-portraits, and abstract paintings.
